Introducing Imogen Donegan as our A-I-R

We are extremely proud to formally introduce our Artist in Residence, Imogen Donegan. This is the inaugural artist in the Community Residency, kindly sponsored by Ards and North Down Borough Council, with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Imogen Donegan is a multi‑media artist living and working in Bangor, whose practice developed as a printmaker at Seacourt Print Workshop. Her work spans printmaking, drawing, animation and film, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and place‑based practice.

Throughout the residency, Imogen will create a new body of work exploring Bangor as a place of transition, responding to the city’s significant physical and cultural change. The residency will run for up to 12 months from April 2026 to March 2027.

Commenting on her appointment, Imogen said:

The residency will include opportunities for public engagement through workshops, talks and events. Imogen delivered her first introductory talk this week, and gave us a beautiful insight into her work and practice. She has also been hosting some drop in “meet the artist” sessions. These are designed to help us boost our creative energies but also to start to gather some information from visitors about their thoughts and memories about Bangor.
