Bangor Is An Energy
When John Lydon and Public Image Ltd (PiL) performed on Bangor seafront, Lydon famously declared, “Bangor is an energy.” This statement captured something intangible but deeply felt—a spirit of movement, reinvention, and creative momentum.
Inspired by this sentiment, The Court House commissioned four artists from Seacourt Print Workshop to create screenprinted works that celebrate Bangor’s music scene and reflect the cultural energy shaping the city’s evolving identity.
Artists Craig Jefferson, Jessica Hollywood, Imogen Donegan, and Steph Harrison have responded with striking, original designs that encapsulate the energy, sound, and visual culture of Bangor’s music heritage and its contemporary creative resurgence. Each artist brings their own distinct style to the project, yet all share a dynamic and expressive approach that reflects the vibrancy of the scene.
The resulting body of work is diverse in execution—ranging from bold, graphic compositions to layered, textural pieces—yet unified by a shared enthusiasm for Bangor’s ongoing transformation through arts-led action. The Court House, itself a beacon of this regeneration, provides the perfect setting for the exhibition, merging past and present as it reinvents its own role as a cultural hub for live music and visual arts.
